Daniella & Jared
Wedding at Rosebank Catholic Church
Daniella and Jared's beautiful, 350 guest wedding at Rosebank Catholic Church earlier in 2026 was an incredibly memorable celebration of love, family and shared faith.
From the moment we arrived at the bride and groom's family homes in Johannesburg for morning preparations, the day felt incredibly special- and not even the overcast weather could dampen the mood. It wasn't just because this beautiful Portuguese and Lebanese celebration brought together over 350 guests, or because every detail had been so thoughtfully planned, it was the joy of finally getting to spend the rest of your life with your person.
Before we dive into the story, a huge thank you to the incredible team who made the day possible. It was such a pleasure working alongside Leigh-Anne from Your Go To Girl Events, who kept everything running seamlessly despite the unpredictable weather. Hair was beautifully styled by Hair by Armon, while Zanae Makeup Artistry created a timeless bridal look that lasted through the rain, happy tears and hours of celebrating. A special thank you as well to everyone behind the scenes at Maronite Church Woodmead, whose beautiful reception space was transformed into a Mediterranean-inspired celebration that guests won't soon forget.
A Rainy Start to a Beautiful Johannesburg Wedding
March in Johannesburg can be wonderfully unpredictable, and this wedding was the perfect reminder that rain doesn't stop beautiful celebrations.
The morning began at the bride and groom's respective family homes, where excitement buzzed through every room. There was laughter, family members popping in to help, and adorable pups dressed in tuxedos!
One thing that stood out immediately was just how family-centred the entire day was. Every tradition and every interaction reflected the joining of two incredibly close-knit families, making it such a privilege to document.
A Meaningful Wedding at Rosebank Catholic Church
One of the things we love most about photographing a Wedding at Rosebank Catholic Church is the incredible sense of history and reverence that the church offers.
Nestled in the heart of Rosebank, this beautiful Catholic church provides an elegant and timeless setting for couples wanting a traditional church wedding. Because Catholic ceremonies include a full Mass, planning the day's timeline carefully is essential, and this wedding was a great example of how thoughtful planning creates a relaxed experience from start to finish.
The earlier ceremony allowed plenty of time for the Mass while still leaving room for portraits and a full evening of celebrating.
As a Johannesburg wedding photographer, we always encourage couples planning Catholic weddings to build extra flexibility into their schedule. The ceremony itself is one of the most meaningful parts of the day, and it's worth allowing yourselves the opportunity to be fully present without feeling rushed.
Watching these two exchange vows surrounded by generations of family and friends was incredibly moving. Every reading, every prayer and every smile reinforced just how important faith is to their relationship.
Rain? No Problem.
If there was one thing this wedding proved, it's that rainy wedding days can be absolutely magical.
Rather than stressing about the weather, everyone embraced it.
Because we'd carefully planned the timeline in advance, we were able to make use of beautiful indoor photo locations and adapt throughout the day without anyone feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
One of our favourite portrait locations was Glenshiel in Johannesburg. Its elegant interiors and character-filled spaces offered something completely different from the typical outdoor wedding portraits, creating images that feel timeless, romantic and full of atmosphere.
Looking for a similar vibe to Glenshiel? Check out Beechwood Gardens and this stunning Johannesburg wedding!
Some of our favourite photographs from the day actually happened because of the rain, not despite it.
It's always a good reminder that some of the most special wedding images come from embracing whatever the day brings.
Olive Branches, Mediterranean Details & A Reception to Remember
Walking into the reception at Maronite Church Woodmead felt like stepping into an elegant Mediterranean celebration.
Olive-inspired styling, soft neutral tones and beautifully curated décor created an atmosphere that was warm, welcoming and effortlessly sophisticated. Every detail complemented the couple's Portuguese and Lebanese heritage so naturally, making the reception feel deeply personal rather than simply beautiful.
And with over 350 guests, the room absolutely came alive.
From heartfelt speeches to spontaneous dancing and a packed dance floor that never seemed to empty, this was the kind of celebration where every single guest was fully invested in making memories.
By the end of the evening, ties had been loosened, shoes had come off, and everyone was celebrating together like one enormous family.
Those are always our favourite kinds of weddings.
Why We Love Photographing/filming Gauteng Weddings
Every Gauteng wedding tells a different story.
Some are intimate and quiet. Others, like this one, are grand celebrations filled with hundreds of loved ones. But what never changes is how much we enjoy documenting the genuine moments in between, the nervous smiles before walking down the aisle, the proud parents watching from the front row, the laughter during family portraits and those tiny glances couples share when nobody else is looking.
As a Johannesburg wedding photographer and videographer, our goal is never simply to take beautiful photographs. We want you to actually enjoy your wedding day.
That means helping with timelines (have a look at our timeline tips here), finding creative solutions when the weather changes, keeping portraits relaxed and natural, and making sure you spend more time celebrating with your favourite people than standing in front of a camera.
Because years from now, those authentic moments will matter far more than perfectly posed photographs.
Planning a Wedding at Rosebank Catholic Church?
If you're planning your own Wedding at Rosebank Catholic Church, we'd absolutely recommend allowing plenty of time for the Catholic Mass, building flexibility into your portrait schedule and considering nearby indoor locations like Glenshiel as a beautiful backup should Johannesburg weather decide to surprise everyone.
With thoughtful planning, even a cold, rainy day can become something unforgettable.
