Wedding at Willow Valley Dairy Farm & Kitty Hawk Aerodrome: A Day of Love, Laughter, and High-Flying Fun

When it comes to weddings, sometimes the best celebrations are the ones that mix the unexpected with the deeply personal. A wedding at Willow Valley Dairy Farm in Rayton followed by a reception at the Kitty Hawk Aerodrome in Pretoria East was the perfect blend of rustic charm, heartfelt moments, and a dash of adventure—and we had the absolute joy of capturing it all!

First off, we have to give a big thank you to the fantastic team of vendors who helped make this day come to life. From the gorgeous flowers to the seamless planning and those incredible, high-flying moments at Kitty Hawk, this day was a true team effort. Huge shoutouts to:

Morning Preparations at Willow Valley Dairy Farm

The day began at Willow Valley Dairy Farm, and let me tell you, this place is pure magic. Nestled in the tranquil farmland just outside Pretoria, Willow Valley offers a peaceful, rustic atmosphere perfect for an intimate wedding. The bridal suite was charming and full of natural light, making it an ideal spot for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready. There was laughter, some happy tears, and even a few cows casually strolling by the windows—this is farm life at its finest!

The groom and his groomsmen were also getting ready on the property, adding to the easy, laid-back vibe of the day. The couple didn’t do a formal first look, but the anticipation of seeing each other during the ceremony made it all the more exciting. We have to admit, we love the quiet moments before the ceremony, where everyone is just soaking it all in and getting ready for what’s about to be one of the best days of their lives.

The Willow Valley Dairy Farm Wedding Ceremony: A Rustic, Heartfelt Vow Exchange

The ceremony took place in a scenic chapel of the farm, surrounded by lush greenery and the river nearby. It was a beautiful sunny spring day in Pretoria, the kind of day where the sky is blue, the air is fresh, and everything just feels right. The couple, both large animal vets, had a ceremony that truly reflected their personalities and love for each other and their animals, including having their dog be the ring bearer! I mean, how many weddings feature livestock ear tags as name cards on the reception tables? It was such a personal touch, and a nod to their shared passion for animals.

As the guests gathered, a light breeze carried the sounds of nature, and the ceremony began. The couple said their vows, and it was such a sweet, intimate moment. There were smiles, a few happy tears, and plenty of laughter as the couple exchanged their vows, sealing their commitment to one another in front of their closest friends and family.

Photoshoot Fun: From Willow Valley to Kitty Hawk

After the ceremony, we took advantage of the gorgeous surroundings for some family photos and couple portraits. Willow Valley Dairy Farm offers so many beautiful spots for pictures—from the rolling hills to the open fields, every corner is photogenic. We even snuck in a few shots with the animals, because, hey, it’s not every day you get to capture a couple with cows in the background!

But the fun didn’t stop there. After we wrapped up at Willow Valley, we headed over to Kitty Hawk Aerodrome for some more photos. Now, this is where the adventure really kicked off! Kitty Hawk is an airfield that’s known for its aerobatic planes, and we were fortunate enough to get some incredible shots with planes flying overhead, buzzing the airstrip as the couple posed on the tarmac. The contrast between the peaceful farm and the high-flying excitement of Kitty Hawk made for some seriously unique and memorable photos. It was like a dream come true for this couple, who both have a bit of an adventurous streak.

The Reception at Kitty Hawk Aerodrome: High-Flying Fun

The reception took place at Kitty Hawk Aerodrome, and if you’ve ever wanted a wedding that stands out, this is it! The airstrip was the perfect setting for a celebration that felt both laid-back and exciting. The planes flying overhead during the cocktail hour only added to the fun energy of the night.

The décor at the reception was rustic and elegant, with natural wooden tables, string lights twinkling overhead, and the quirky livestock ear tag name cards that were a huge hit with guests. The dinner, was absolutely delicious, and everyone was in high spirits for the evening.

As the night went on, we had some time for a few final photos. The light was golden, the guests were dancing, and the entire day felt like one big celebration of love, family, and adventure. The couple truly made the day their own, and it was such an honor to capture their journey.
