A Wedding at Smitsfield Venue: A Day Full of Love, Laughter, and Personal Touches.


You know those weddings that you just can’t help but smile about for days after? Well, Jomarie and Anton’s wedding at Smitsfield Venue in Mpumalanga was one of those. It was an incredible day filled with stunning moments, heartfelt emotions, and a whole lot of personal touches that made everything feel unique and so them. Morning Prep: Getting Ready in Style


The day started with the couple’s preparations in one of the most unique and cozy spots — Smitsfield’s converted train cars. I mean, how cool is that? It’s like something out of a dream, right? These vintage train cars set the perfect tone for the day: charming, intimate, and full of character. The bride was helped by her mom as she slipped into her stunning gown from Vonvé Bridal Couture, and we could feel the excitement building. You could tell they were all ready to see this beautiful day come together.

The cool, windy weather had us all wondering if the sun would show up for the ceremony, but of course, in true South African fashion, the sun peeked out just in time for photos, and everything felt meant to be.

The Ceremony: Love Under the Trees


The outdoor ceremony area at Smitsfield Venue is absolutely magical. The couple exchanged their vows beneath trees whispering in the wind in the background. It was the perfect setting for their love story — intimate, natural, and beautiful in its simplicity.

A super adorable moment came when the couple’s dog, Beamer, stepped in as the ring bearer. It was clear that this family was about more than just the couple — they had created something special with their guests and their fur baby, too!

One of the most unique features of this ceremony was how the couple made it their own. They didn’t just go through the motions; they truly made it about them. From the personalised vows to the heartfelt looks they exchanged as they said “I do,” the ceremony was packed with emotion and love. Once they had made things official, they exited the ceremony area showered with confetti and headed over to their champagne tower, where they shared another picture-perfect moment.

Photoshoot: Capturing the Magic on the Smitsfield Farm


After the ceremony, and some delicious canapés, we headed out for a photoshoot on the Smitsfield farm near the river, and this place is an absolute dream for any South African Wedding Photographer. The landscapes are breathtaking, with wide-open spaces, beautiful trees, sand banks and that perfect golden hour light that makes everything feel just a little bit magical.

With hardly any prompting from us, the couple shared quiet moments, laughed, and gazed at each other in a way that could only be described as “completely in love.” The beauty of their connection was so easy to capture, and I think it’s safe to say that Smitsfield Venue made the perfect backdrop for their love story.

Now, let’s talk about the Wedding Reception — it was stunning. The venue was filled with beautiful tulips, candles from Candle Lite SA, and personalised touches that made the evening feel so unique to Jomarie and Anton. Custom place settings designed by the bride herself were placed at each place setting, adding a layer of personal style to every table. The guests were greeted by a seating chart made up of photos of them with the couple, which was such a fun way to make everyone feel even more special.

The couple went above and beyond with their thoughtful details — personalised napkins with fun facts about the couple, a t-shirt toss instead of the traditional bouquet and garter toss (which was a total hit with the guests), and the best part? The bride surprised the groom with a completely unexpected outfit change mid-reception — talk about a showstopper moment!

The energy at the reception was electric. The dance floor was packed, and every moment was filled with laughter, cheers, and the kind of joy that only a wedding can bring. A special shoutout to V & E Entertainment for keeping the tunes going all night and keeping everyone on their feet. After the bride's grand entrance in her reception outfit, ice lollies and giant glow sticks were handed out, which added to the festivities.

As the night wore on, the couple shared more intimate moments with their friends and family, soaking in every bit of the celebration. It was one of those weddings where the love just radiated from the couple and their guests. Every detail, every moment, was a reflection of the couple’s personality, love, and the relationships they’ve built with everyone around them.
