Misty magic
No matter how carefully a wedding day is planned and coordinated, every detail carefully considered, there's one thing that no one can control... the weather. We spent the whole week before Isabella and Andre's wedding day checking the weather forecast with a bit of a sinking feeling - a 90% chance of rain for their wedding day! While a rainy wedding day certainly isn't the end of the world, we knew it wasn't what the couple was dreaming of. When we took off from O.R Tambo International and sunny Gauteng and landed in a dreary George, our team was fully prepared for pouring rain the next day. And when we woke up the next morning, our suspicions were confirmed- rain! We tried to stay optimistic as we headed to Tafika Polo Farm, and maybe our optimism paid off, because when we arrived, the rain had stopped and the most spectacular mist had settled over the Plettenberg Bay mountains. The mist added a mystical, romantic blanket and softly diffused light to an already stunning venue, and ultimately the day turned into one of our all time favourite weather conditions for a wedding day!
A pop of colour
Isabella's chosen colour palette of bright pinks and corals popped brightly against the misty background, with the beautiful florals, thoughtful details and draping completely transforming the already beautiful reception and ceremony space. The ceremony with its glass sides looked out over the mist covered landscape framed by the pink floral installations and white drapery done by The Harvest Table and Envie planning team.
The Friends
Both Isabella and Andre were thrilled by the weather, and surrounded by their fantastic bridal parties, many of whom had travelled from all over to be at this beautiful Garden Route wedding day. The energy was high, the vibes were vibing, and everyone was excited to see their friends get married. Andre and his groomsmen enjoyed whiskey and cigars while looking out at the mountains and saying hello to the horses at Tafika Polo Farm, and definitely bringing a mixture of Mr Darcy coming through the mist to Lizzie and Peaky Blinders gangsters!
On the other side of the farm, Isabella and her girls and guys were getting glammed up for the day. With a carefully thought out timeline, we had plenty of time for portraits, fun shots, and candid moments! The afternoon flew by with champagne, dance parties and a dress reveal, and then it was time to head to the ceremony.
We Do
The couple shared beautiful, personal vows in front of their guests, surrounded by the Cape's beauty and many a tear was shed. After confetti and the signing of the register, we tweaked the timeline to accommodate the dwindling light and headed out for their couple photos in the mist. The rain held off all the way until the start of the reception when everyone was cosily inside and ready to party!
Party Time
The couple did their first dance upon entering the reception and framed by their guests and the chandeliers above the bar, it was a dreamy moment! After speeches (the perfect blend of funny and sweet!), dinner and cake cutting, Isabella headed to change into a party dress and we took some more photos of her and Andre in the gorgeous bathroom before they headed out to their champagne tower and to hit the dance floor!
